Profile

Guatemala is a small country in central America just south of Mexico. My mum was born in Guatemala and came to Canada for a visit and decided to stay here! We go once in a while, not as much as we should. We have cousins and uncles and we absolutely love our Guatemalan family.

Guatemala is a place to see volcanoes, go to markets, Lake Atitlán is one of the most beautiful lakes, Antigua is an old city worth seeing and the food is amazing. Be careful of the bad areas and make sure to research before booking anything but otherwise it’s just a nice place. The currency is quetzal, very reasonable exchange rate.

I did not spend much time in the city as I prefer the scenery and it was worth it. We went to different markets, spend 2 days in Panajachel, 2 days at the beach in Monterrico and much more went to Antigua… Next time I will go north to visit Petén where the Maya pyramids are.
