Profile
Kynren is an open-air spectacular.
It is performed at night in the Vale of Durham known as the Gateway to Weardale. It takes place against the backdrop of park and castle of Auckland which has been the principle residence of the Bishops of Durham since the twelfth century.
It is an epic tale of England spanning 2000 years. It should not be missed.
The forty pound seats as near to the centre of the stage as possible are excellent seats.
The show lasts for 2 hours, if you take a small cushion with you it will make the experience all the more comfortable.
The car park cost one pound fifty so is superb value. The only problem they do not send out the car park ticket until about 2 weeks before your scheduled performance.
If you have bought on-line and are already on your holidays make sure you take your laptop and arrange for someone else to print off the car park ticket for you. Leave plenty of time to get to the show.
It is a long walk from car park to arena down a wide gravel incline.
Once at the bottom be sure to ask for a coloured armband to ensure you can catch a free shuttle bus back to the car park once the show has ended.
The show has been extended for another year. So it is a must – if you get the chance.
